What You Shouldn’t Do if You Want to Keep Your HVAC Warranty Valid

When buying a new HVAC system, one of the most important factors to consider is the warranty. Typically, warranties include repairs for specific parts, replacement of certain system components, a guarantee for any manufacturer defects and more. Moreover, they keep your investment protected and can save you from having to pay for costly repairs.

Continue reading to learn what you shouldn’t do if you want to keep your HVAC warranty valid from a trusted air conditioning and heating service provider.

Not Registering Your System

You need to register your system to make your warranty valid and active. Manufacturers usually have a deadline for registering newly-installed units, meaning it should be among the first things you do after getting your new HVAC system.

Failing to Maintain Your Equipment

Your heating and air conditioning system requires regular maintenance to stay efficient and last longer. Most HVAC warranties require you to routinely maintain your system to keep it valid. Your warranty may become void if you don’t have your equipment professionally maintained at least annually. Moreover, you should keep a record of your yearly maintenance to prove it was completed.

Using Mismatched System Parts

HVAC systems are designed to work with certain parts. Your warranty may be voided if you use parts made by another manufacturer. Some  technicians use HVAC parts from different brands to repair or replace broken parts in order to cut corners. You can keep your warranty valid by insisting that replacement parts come from the same manufacturer. Replacing your furnace without also getting a new AC or vice versa may also invalidate your warranty.
